Pre-Inspection Guidelines
Before taking your side-by-side to a state vehicle inspector or local DMV clerk, review this checklist to ensure all modifications are completed and fully wired.

| [ ] | Headlights | Dual front headlights with high and low beam functionality. |
| [ ] | Tail Lights & Brake Lights | Rear lights that activate with running lights, and illuminate red when brakes are applied. |
| [ ] | Turn Signals | Amber signals on the front, red or amber on the rear. Must flash in cab indicators. |
| [ ] | License Plate Light | A white LED light illuminating the rear license plate frame. |
| [ ] | Rearview & Side Mirrors | At least two mirrors (one center, one driver-side, or dual side-view mirrors) providing 200ft rear view. |
| [ ] | Electric Horn | A 12V electric automotive horn audible from at least 200 feet away. (Hand horn is not allowed). |
| [ ] | DOT Safety Windshield | A safety glass windshield stamped with 'AS-1' code, equipped with a wiper. (Or goggles if permitted). |
| [ ] | DOT Approved Tires | Off-road or street tires carrying the 'DOT' stamp of compliance on the sidewall. |
| [ ] | Muffler & Spark Arrester | Standard exhaust system in good working order meeting noise limits (usually under 96 dBA). |
| [ ] | Seatbelts | Safety belts for the operator and all designated passenger seats. |
Out-of-State South Dakota Mail-In Quick Check
- [ ] Form MV-1001 completed and signed (SSI included for non-resident)
- [ ] Form MV-1015 Low-Speed Vehicle Affidavit signed
- [ ] Original vehicle Title or MSO enclosed
- [ ] Front and Back copy of home-state Driver's License enclosed
- [ ] Invoice showing 4% sales tax paid, or 4% tax included in checkout check
- [ ] Check or Money Order payable to County Treasurer (e.g. Clay County Treasurer)
